Navjot Dhillon was born in 1972 in Jajja Kalan, a village in Jalandhar. After her primary education in the village, she pursued the rest of her  higher studies in the educational institutions of Jalandhar and obtained her  Masters in 'Mass Communication and Journalism' from the regional campus of Guru Nanak Dev University.

In 1995, while still pursuing her studies,  she became associated with Jalandhar Radio and Doordarshan and started working for these institutions. After graduation, she worked for the Indian Express and Hindustan Times newspapers. From 1998 to 2004 she headed the Department of Journalism at BD Arya Girls' College, Jalandhar, but even during that period she was constantly involved with TV and radio, both in India and abroad. First in England and later in Canada.

 

Wherever she resided, she designed special programs for women, children, youth and elders , keeping in mind interests of all segments. She regularly conducted talk shows exposing social malpractices and discrimination prevalent in the Indian community in Canada. She also suffered the consequences of drawing attention to subjects that are usually left untouched, or deliberately hidden. As a result she had to unceremoniously quit her job.

 

Nowadays, she is striving to spread her word through her YouTube channel and other social media.

In Navjot Dhillon's own words, "Discussions with intellectuals and thinkers of Punjab have been the  highlight of my programmes. Art, literature, books or writers were the most neglected subjects by  Punjabi radio in Canada. I started talking about Punjabi writers on the occasion of their birthday or death anniversary. It was also for the first time that to promote the culture of reading books , I invited my listeners to read and review a book of their choice, which received an overwhelming response. In my programmes even  those topics, that are usually considered taboo in the Punjabi community and media, were not only touched upon but were also deeply discussed."
