"In my stories, I try to capture the phenomena  taking place in our immigrant society. This story illustrates the new trend in our society when rich parents sponsor the education in Canada of a deserving child from an economically weaker family on the condition of marriage with their child,  to get their less deserving child settled in Canada.This is the story of a Punjabi girl who arrives in Canada on this basis , but gains self-identity and self-confidence through the travails of early years of migration, and it depicts her mental transformation in the process."

Harpreet Sekha is a Punjabi author  based in Surrey, BC, Canada. He migrated to Canada with his parents in 1988. An engineer by education, Harpreet’s written work explores themes such as gender inequality, social justice, and migrant experience.

Harpreet’s most recent work includes the novel Hanerey Raah (2020) and the short story anthology Duggi (2020). Harpreet’s body of work includes the non-fiction Taxinaama (2011) and short story anthologies Bi Ji Muskra Paye (2006), Baaran Boohey (2013) and Prism (2017), for which he was awarded the prestigious Dahaan Prize. Harpreet’s work has also been adapted to the stage by many celebrated theatre artists -as well as to the screen in a tv serial by Channel Punjabi. His work has also been translated into Hindi and English.
